PPG NUTRISHIELD® MAX PPG7590 interior coating simplifies canmaking, delivers high-performance
protection
PITTSBURGH, April 16, 2026– PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced the launch of PPG NUTRISHIELD® MAX
PPG7590 solution, a white interior coating designed for aluminum draw-redraw (DRD) cans and easy-open ends
containing wet pet food. It is the first polyvinyl chloride non-intent (PVC-NI), one-component coil coating in the
U.S.
PPG NUTRISHIELD® MAX PPG7590 coating is the first polyvinyl chloride non-intent (PVC-NI), single-component
interior coating for aluminum draw-redraw (DRD) cans and easy-open ends in the U.S.
The single-component solution eliminates the need for mixing, changeovers or multiple coating systems,
helping streamline operations and reduce downtime for coil coaters. Its ready-to-use formulation lowers production
complexity and material waste, while maintaining a crisp, white interior for both can bodies and can ends. This
high-performance coating protects product integrity and meets brand quality expectations.
“We’re providing a major step forward in quality, simplicity and sustainability for pet food
packaging,” said Florence Béliard, PPG global strategic market manager, food, Packaging Coatings.
“This latest coating innovation offers our customers a range of benefits including reduced costs through
manufacturing efficiency, optimal performance with enhanced visual appearance and compliance in a fast-moving
regulatory landscape.”
Key features of PPG Nutrishield MAX PPG7590 coating include:
- Formulated without PVC, PFAS, Bisphenol A (BPA) and other bisphenols.
- Delivers a one-component system that is ready to go upon delivery, eliminating mixing and
changeovers for faster, more efficient and sustainably advantaged* production process through waste reduction.
- Supports aluminum coil rollcoat application and cures reliably across different plant lines.
- Performs across a wide range of wet pet food applications, offering excellent stain resistance for
products such as chicken, turkey and fish.
- Contributes to food waste reduction goals by maintaining product integrity.
The coating has been approved by major pet food brands, coil coaters and can manufacturers. It is the
latest addition to PPG’s Nutrishield line of internal coating solutions designed for a wide range of
food cans.
PPG will feature PPG Nutrishield MAX along with its complete BPA-NI coatings portfolio at METPACK
2026, an international trade fair for the metal packaging industry, taking place May 5-8 in Essen, Germany.
